Cherokee Hot Dog Day

The Cherokee Chamber of Commerce staged its annual Hot Dog Day on Thursday May 10. Visitors were treated to free hot dogs, courtesy of Hy-Vee Food Store, and during the festivities, the players of the Cherokee Youth Summer Ball Association marched in a parade down Main Street.
Hot Dog Day -
Nearly 6,500 hot dogs were grilled up at 28 different locations around Cherokee on May 10th, including Quilt N Kaboodle on West Main Street in downtown Cherokee, shown here. Taking home the honor of the "Top Dog" award was State Saving Bank of Cherokee.
Depot dogs -
Members of the Cherokee Historic Depot Renovation Inc. got into the spirit of Hot Dog Day by dressing up in period clothing on Thursday as they served up their hot dogs.
Fashionable dogs -

CYSBA Parade heads downtown -
The annual CYSBA Parade is also part of the annual Hot Dog Day on Thursday, where players and coaches who are involved in the Cherokee Youth Summer Ball Association marched their teams down Main Street. Pictured is Cherokee Police Chief Steve Schuck with his Careage Hills T-Ball team.
