WITCC helps deserving family -
The Cherokee Campus of Western Iowa Tech Community College staff, faculty and student along with Bomgaars of Cherokee recently worked with a local charity to determane a deserving area family to donated a live Christmas Tree, toys and food items. Those who participated in this project are Darla Struck, Maraya Klave, James Lesley, Cindy Alcorn, Frank O'Neill, Gigi Boothby, Buddy Briggs, Kathleen Rice, Jerry Rollefson, and Wendy Ivarson.

American Natural Soy donates to Cherokee Fire Department -
The Cherokee Fire Department accepted a donation check in the amount of $2,500 from Kyle Samsel of American Natural Soy. The donation will be used towards the purchase and replacement of needed equipment.

Toys for Tots donation-
Cherokee Police Officer Nate James recently accepted a donation of $800 worth of toys from Andrea McIrving of KCHE for the CPD annual Toys for Tots toy drive, which was held last weekend at the Cherokee Community Center. The toys were purchased by KCHE with the help of many area businesses who showed their holiday spirit by giving donations.

Andrea McIrvin of KCHE, center, delivered $800 worth of toys to the Cherokee Mid Sioux in mid-December to help make Christmas a little brighter for area kids. The toys were purchased by KCHE with the help of many area businesses, who showed their holiday spirit by giving donations. On Tuesday Dec. 18th,the Washington High School Music Department presented a Winter Concert in the school's auditorium. First to perform was the WHS Concert Band, who performed the songs "German Christmas Festival", "The Holly and The Ivy", "Wassail" and "Prelude to Christmas." The WHS Concert Band was under the direction of Paul McEntaffier.

WHS Concert Choir -
Among the songs performed by the WHS Concert Choir at the Winter Concert Dec. 18th were "Noel, Noel", "Veni Sancte Spiritus" and "Carol of the Bells." To end the Winter Concert each year, audience members are invited on stage to sing along on Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus." The WHS Concert Choirs were directed by Amy Sarchet, and Meribeth Adams and Cari Clyde were the accompanists for the evening.

A special guest appeared with the Jr. High mixed chorus at the Cherokee Middle School Vocal and Instrumental Christmas Concert - Ebenezer Scrooge - so wonderfully portrayed by David Zelle in the box office knockout "Christmas Carol" which was recently staged by the Cherokee Community Theater and Cherokee School District.
