Students in Jan Brown's fourth grade class at Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn Elementary School in Cleghorn are studying the human body systems. Christie Kamphoff, who is a nurse, spoke to the fourth graders about the circulatory system. As a demonstration, students used a stethoscope to listen to their heart beat. Learning to use multiple senses -
Fourth graders at Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn experienced first-hand a look at fur animals using vertebrate as a basis. Cory Bouchard presented a topic well-known to him. Bouchard has ventured with his father, Steve Bouchard, on safari hunting-trips to Alaska, Africa and this spring to South America. Students listened to Bouchard and then examined the bones and fur of various animals. The 2013 Knights Of Columbus Spelling Bee for all area students in grades 4-7 was held on Sunday Jan. 27th at the Cherokee Immaculate Conception School. The first and second place contestants in each grade level advanced to regional competition. WHS Honor Choir -
Students from Cherokee Washington High School participated in the Northwest Iowa Choral Director's Association High School Honor Choir on January 21 at Dordt College in Sioux Center. Students from about 30 area schools spent the day working with Dr. David Holdhusen of the University of South Dakota and then presented a concert that evening in the B. J. Haan Chapel.
