Track down - The Geocaching seminar held recently at the Silver Sioux Park attracted well over 100 visitors from throughout the area and beyond. Those who attended the event spent the day using their GPS devices to track down hidden stashes called "hides" in geocaching jargon. Geocaching convocation - On May 16, an estimated 130 hardy adventurers with their GPS devices in hand converged on the Silver Sioux County Park's Big Barn for a Geocaching seminar. The event, which was sponsored by the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, was organized by local avid geocachers Bill Larson and Tony Morris. Sign of the times - On Thursday, Colin Christensen of Holton Sign started the process of replacing the storefront sign at Judy's Hallmark Store in downtown Cherokee to relect some changes in the business. Starting next month. "Judy's Hallmark" will no longer be carrying Hallmark products. According to store owner Russ Harvey,the store will soon be carrying Card Smart products, and the store will simply be called 'Card Smart.' Giftware items will remain the same. MMC volunteer - During the celebration of the recent National Volunteer Week, the teachers and staff of the Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn Elementary school singled out Sherree Ogren for a well- deserved pat on the back for services rendered. The stalwart volunteer has been lending a hand around the elementary school for quite some time now, up to and including three years of helping out Jodi Feser in the third grade classroom.
