The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn school district was the last area district to start classes for the 2010-2011 school year, with the initial day for students being August 25.
Timely arrival -
Incoming K-1 scholar Kaile VanderVegle and her mom Brittany Reinert arrived at the MMC elementary school bright and early for the very first day of the new academic year.
Bus business -
In case you hadn't noticed, there's been a migration of a certain bunch of Eagles recently. These birds of feather have been flocking to their respective MMC schools for the first day of the 2010-11 school year. Instead of flying, however, the nestlings in this photo arrived at the MMC Elementary school via their trusty school bus.
C'mon in! -
With 8:30 showing prominently on the MMC Elementary clock, it's time to come in off the playground and get the new school year up and going.
Group hug -
As far as the Merino sisters...Graciela, Olivia and Tattianna are concerned, there's no better way to start a new school year at MMC Elementary than with a group hug from first grade teacher Julie Letsche. The girls will be entering the third, second and K-1 classes respectively.
Getting to know you -
There's a whole lot of getting acquainted involved in the first day of the new school year. New MMC Elementary K-1 student Kami Cobb met a lot of new faces on her premiere academic day including MMC elementary principal Kathy Tritz-Rhodes.
Booking it -
Elementary librarian Mary Deichmann was seen entering the portals of MMC Elementary bright and early on the first day of the new school year. You can be sure that she's got a whole new stack of good tales already picked out for those popular storytime sessions.
Signing in -
It didn't take incoming K-1 student Cody Simons long to get squared away in his new classroom on the first day of school. The young scholar was the epitome of scholastic cool as he signed in under the benevolent eye of his teacher Shari Lehnhoff.
A mile of smile -
Hannah Neddermeyer has a whole lot to smile about on the first day of the school year. After all, she has a lot of neat academic-type stuff and her own study slot in Kim Irwin's kindergarten classroom at MMC Elementary.
Fountain fortitude -
Every MMC Eaglet worth his tail feathers knows that learning the three "R's" can leave any scholar a bit on the parched side. Maybe that's why the water fountain at MMC Elementary received a lot of attention on the first day of the new school term.
