The 2011 Cherokee County 4-H Awards Banquet was held in Marcus on Sunday afternoon January 9th.
One of the largest and most active local 4-H groups - The Cavaliers - was the first to be recognized at the annual awards program on January 9.
Chris Clover award -
Brian Tuttle was awarded the Chris Clover Award in recognition of his work helping 4-Hers raise chickens.
Robotiacs 4-H -
Representing a new 4-H group were Fran Conley , left, and 4-H Extension leader Brenda Medick.
4-H special awards -
Mitch Brady, Kourtney Behrens and Jill Addison received the special awards for repectively, Agriculture Achievement , Ak-Sar-Ben, and citizenship and the 'I Dare You' awards.
4-H Leader of the Year -
Donna Amundson has given much time and effort to promote the 4-H program which earned her the prestigious ' 4-H Leader of the Year' award.
Outstanding 4-H Leaders -
Jerry and Lynn Ebert received a plaque for outstanding leadership in 4-H over the course of many years. The pair are always working with the county's youth and trying to encourage the young people..
Kindwall family -
Shooting Sports have created a great deal of interest with Jacob and Josie Kindwall, shown here with their supportive mother, Barb.
The Marcus Go-Getters 4-H Club won the top award in community service projects under the direction of their leader, Jean Addison, center.
4-H Alumni -
Mark Wilkie was nominated and won the 4-H Alumni Award for encouraging others, such as Riley and Shelby Dolphin, to be active in 4-H.
Honorary 4-H member -
All the time and effort Marlin Stief has contributed to 4-H earned him recognition as an Honorary 4-H Member at the Jan. 9, 2011 4-H Awards banquet. Shown here with his wife, Amy, Marlin pitched in and became a regular working at the fair grounds.
Mill Creek Club -
Mill Creek is a very active group and the members won several awards in the 'Pride of Iowa' Club contest, the banner club community service awards.
Sheriden Stars -
Representing the Sheriden Stars Club at the 4-H Awards Banquet were, left to right, Sara Peters, Ali Glassmaker, leader Sandy Peters, and Kourtney Behrens.
"Record" Achievers -
The Tilden Tillers 4-H club was recognized for having the highest percentage of record books handed in at the end of the year.
Stockmen club -
The Stockmen 4-H group, one of the newer groups in the County, collected the most pennies, earning the group 14,855 points, which gave them first place.
