Noah Eiden Named as Roosevelt's Reader (02/08/05)
With the new year now into its second month and winter slowly dying down here in Cherokee, it's three cheers and a tip of the old presidential topper for Noah Eiden as he accepts the nod as Roosevelt's February Reader of the Month. When the bell rings signaling another school day at Roosevelt Elementary, this pint-sized peruser can be found occupying his fair share of the kindergarten classroom...

Dennis and Rose DeYoung asnnounce the engagement of their daughter Amanda Marie DeYoung, all from Quimby, to Clynton William Sanow of Sioux City. Winding Roads: Disturbing news (02/08/05)
I think the most disturbing news last week for me was about parents neglecting/abusing their children. I can't conceive of parents doing some of the incidents reported to the news media. Whether it involves some form of sex at a tender age or blatant use of drugs, it is despicable. I sometimes think some adults never should have been born or at least castrated. Human beings have sunk to a new low. Children of all ages run about totally unsupervised...
Tax that cell phone! (02/08/05)
We couldn't agree more with Chronicle Times columnist Ken Ross's suggestion last week that our politicians consider taxing people who leave their cell phones on in public places. In fact, we whole-heartedly endorse such a tax - the sooner (ring-ring!) the better (ring!)...
