Century Farm awards (11/02/06)
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Patty Judge presented Century Farm awards to three Cherokee County farm families at ceremonies held on Aug. 15, at the Iowa State Fair. The Kathy Cosgrove Green and Michael Cosgrove family farm near Mariden, the Robert Harwig family farm near Cherokee and the Robert and Lorraine Mortenson family farm near Cherokee were honored at the 2006 Century Farm Awards ceremonies. Area schools hike security (11/02/06)
The publicity recently generated concerning safety and security in our schools has not been lost on the high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools in Cherokee County.       Last time I promised to tell you more about Brian Peavey, our present link with the National Aeronautic and Space Agency, so here goes.  On his mother's side, there is a long history of pilots and navigation, so it might be said that flying is in his blood.  His father, Dennis Peavey, tells me that as a youngster he would often lie out on their lawn staring up at the sky, pointing out airplanes that the rest of the family couldn't even see.  He took flying as an elective science class during his senior year in high school in Westport, CT.  While living there, his father commuted each day to midtown Manhattan where he was a CPA and partner with Pricewaterhouse Coopers, the international accounting and consulting firm.. ...
Our new addresses (11/02/06)
Because of a change in service, we have changed the email addresses for the Chronicle Times. We have been running an ad periodically that directs people to the right address for the right type of email but there will naturally be some confusion. We have actually had new email addresses for over a month but emails to the old addresses have been forwarded until last week. They will no longer be forwarded...
