Girl donates to Locks of Love (12/21/06)
Alexis, the four-year-old daughter of Adam and April Schossow of Meriden had never had her hair cut, but she was not at all nervous when she went to Creative Cutters in Cherokee to have 12 inches of her long blonde locks cropped off. Alexis would have a hairstyle similar to her mother's after she was done and the person cutting her hair was a family friend, Jane Schmillen. Most importantly, Alexis was having her hair cut for a worthy cause...

Cherokee senior wins 4th S-O title in four years SIBLEY - Tyler Halverson's first-place finish led the Cherokee Braves wrestling squad at Saturday's rugged Sibley-Ocheyedan Wrestling Invitational. Halverson, a state champion at 103 pounds two years ago, and state runner-up at 119 last year, defeated all three opponents in the 130-pound weight class quite handily to remain undefeated for the season...

The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn boys traveled to Lawton for a non-conference tussle with Lawton-Bronson on Thursday, and MMC coach Al Vasher said his team "played a little tentative in the first half." Though the team played better in the second half, Vasher said "we dug ourselves too deep of a hole," and weren't able to come back, as Lawton-Bronson took a 48-34 victory...
