Electronic records at CRMC (05/21/07)
Currently, approximately 25 percent of patient records in the United States are electronically filed, with the other 75 percent stored in a paper file. Many patients have medical charts that have multiple volumes and are several inches thick. You can only imagine the inefficiency in trying to retrieve and communicate this information on paper. Hand written documents, a complex filing system, and thousands of paper records contribute to this inefficiency...
Marcus Motorcyclist dies in accident (05/21/07)
On Friday May 11th, at 4:24 p.m., Clarence Rohlfsen 86, Granville was south bound on L40, and struck a motorcycle driven by Lyle Poppens 51, Marcus, at the intersection of L40 and Highway 3 in Cleghorn. Poppens was traveling west on Highway 3. Both vehicles were considered a total loss, and Poppens was pronounced dead at the scene by the Cherokee County Coroner...

WHS broken into (05/21/07)
Early Monday morning, the Cherokee Police Department was notified that Washington High School was broken into sometime over the weekend. The CPD reports that entrance was gained by breaking a window on an outside door. Several rooms had been ransacked and a small amount of money was taken. The matter is still under investigation...

Lyle Poppens, 51, of Marcus, and formerly of Lennox, S.D., died on Friday May 11, 2007 near Cleghorn, as a result of an automobile/ motorcycle accident. Spring has been a bit late this year.  I can remember a few seasons like this in the past.  The year (now almost pre-historic) of my high school graduation was one of those.  We nearly froze as we attempted to have our Senior Day picnic in the flimsy shelter house of a park in Fort Dodge.  We got to go all of 25 miles to celebrate our up-coming commencement! (Now I don't want to hear any giggles from my younger friends who go on major class trips these days.)  A few days later snow actually fell on Baccalaureate Sunday and we wore heavy coats over our light dresses en route to Commencement exercises shortly after that. . ...
