City decides on white tower (07/03/07)
The Cherokee City Council voted to use white paint to paint the north water tower. The tower had been white before being painted a light blue some years back. The tower will also contain the slogan "Your Place to Be" in smaller letters after the word Cherokee. Mick Samsel of Creative Services presented artist conceptions of options on how the name and slogan would look. The city will get cost estimates on both completely black lettering and mixed colored lettering...

Pairings for the District Softball Tournaments have been set, and announced by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. In the Chronicle Times coverage area, River Valley will play Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn in Class 1A District Semifinal action at Cleghorn on Saturday July 14, at 7 p.m., and Aurelia meets Galva-Holstein at Galva at the same time on the same date.
