Veterans gather (08/28/07)
On Saturday, area Veterans met at the Cherokee County Fairgrounds to discuss plans for the Cherokee County Veteran Appreciation celebration, which will feature the "Vietnam Moving Wall." The veterans took time out of their scheduled meeting to pose for a photo on the spot where the "Moving Wall" will stand. MMC gives music full credit (08/28/07)
The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn School Board approved a policy change that will provide a full credit each semester for music classes. The action taken at the Monday board meeting will put music classes on the same level as other classes as far as credit each semester and the impact on a student's GPA...

We sat in baffled amazement not once, but twice, at the Cherokee Washington High freshman orientation session last Thursday night at WHS. The topic was the nefarious existence of the a la carte menu served at lunchtime at the high school. In his opening remarks to parents and freshman students, WHS Principal Larry Hunecke addressed the economic pitfalls of the a la carte menu and how fast it can run up a large bill for students and their families way beyond the "normal" cost of eating only the planned, well-balanced, and quite nutritional school meal each day.. ...
