Parking lot bid on hold (12/03/07)
Plans to sell city property on Fourth Street that is currently used for a parking lot was put on hold at the Tuesday meeting of the Cherokee City Council. This is the fourth time the city council has proceeded with obtaining bids for the property since the lot with a building on it was donated by Central Bank (at that time Central Bank & Trust) in 2001 with the understanding that the city would demolish the building, fill in the basement and create a parking lot...
DAR Donates Cemetery Directory (12/03/07)
The Pilot Rock chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution donated a Directory/Locator Board on Nov. 21 to Afton Township Cemetery - the first one to go into one of the 24 cemeteries in Cherokee County. Dr. Frederick V. Moore, president of Buena Vista University (BVU) and Dr. Robert E. Dunker, president of Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC), signed a new agreement on Nov. 29 that will allow students enrolled in business programs at WITCC to transfer into online bachelors degree programs at BVU.
