In 1954, a book was published entitled "The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant" (a work of fiction, obviously) by Douglas Wallop (Wallop - how's that for the name of an author of a baseball book?). As oil and gasoline prices continue to climb, squeezing consumers, it appears that no one is listening to our concerns. Last week, windfall profits legislation failed to pass in the U.S. Senate. The bill included many measures, ranging from tax credits for alternative and renewable energy and provisions to regulate the trading of oil futures.
