Veteran Appreciation Day announced (07/10/08)
Cherokee County Veteran Affairs Director Dana Evans announced recently that the Third Annual Cherokee County Veterans Appreciation Day will be held on Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Cherokee County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year's theme will be "Stars and Stripes." Plans have not been finalized for all events, however the following organizations are scheduled to be in attendance: South Dakota Veteran Administration Hospital of Sioux Falls; Iowa Veteran Administration Regional Office of Des Moines; Camp Dodge Veteran Office; County and National Veteran Service Officers; Military Units; Sioux City Vet Center.. ...

This will be the last year that school board elections will be held in Iowa on an even numbered year. It is also the last year that board members will be elected to three-year terms. Beginning in 2009, elections will be held on odd years for four-year terms.
