The Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation (CAEDC) Legacy Foundation Committee is seeking contact information with any and all former Cherokee County residents. Expressly, the CAEDC Legacy Foundation is seeking contact information from alumni from all present and former county schools, including Cherokee Washington High, Aurelia, Marcus, Cleghorn, Meriden, Meriden-Cleghorn, Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn, Quimby, Washta, Willow, Larrabee, Cherokee Immaculate Conception, Cherokee Wilson High School, and the home schooled.. ...
County Fund Drive begins (10/06/08)
The Cherokee County Fund Drive is under way. Representatives of 11 non-profit, tax-exempt organizations that participate in the annual fund drive have begun working on the event. They met last Wednesday at the Cherokee Community Center to prepare brochures for the fund drive. According to the fund drive chairman, Chuck Stubbe, "Many of these organization couldn't continue to operate without this fund drive."...

CRETE, Neb. - Morningside College's Kara Nelson, a sophomore from Cherokee, was the women's individual champion at the Doane College Dean White Invitational Cross Country Meet here on Saturday Sept. 27. Nelson, the daughter of Jim and Sue Nelson of Cherokee, ran the 5K course in 18:49.35 for a victory margin of nearly 11 seconds over runner-up Scottie Shaw of Hastings College, who clocked a 19:00.24...
