Mayer donates to veterans groups (05/11/09)
Shawn Mayer (left) is pictured giving a check in the amount of $888 to Cherokee Veteran Affairs Director Dana Evans (center). Mayer recently played a series of concerts and donated part of the proceeds from the shows to various veterans' organizations. Evans will be using the funds towards The Cherokee County Veteran Appreciation Day, the Siouxland Honor Flight, and a donation to the American Legion and the Vietnam Veterans of America. If my name was in the same sentence as "basketball player," the phrase "washed up" would accompany it. (For example: Brett Campbell the basketball player is washed up.) I won't lie though, I was never what people would call a natural. Bowen named to All-GPAC Golf (05/11/09)
SIOUX CITY - Morningside College junior Jenny Bowen has been named to the 2009 All-Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women's Golf Team. Bowen is a graduate of Aurelia High School and is the daughter of Jeff and Maria Bowen of Aurelia.
