CCT to present 'Beauty and the Beast' (06/12/09)
The Cherokee Community Theater, now in its 50th anniversary season, will present Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" for six performances later this month at the Cherokee Community Center. The play is an adaptation of the 1991 Disney animated film, and ran on Broadway from 1994 - 2007. It was nominated for several Tony Awards in 1994, and features the music of Alan Menken, with lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice...
Mid-Sioux awarded federal funds (06/12/09)
Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Inc. has been chosen to receive an additional $2,000 in Reinvestment Act Dollars to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in Cherokee County. The selection was made by a National Board which is chaired by the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Management Agency, and consists of representatives from the Salvation Army; American Red Cross; United Jewish Communities; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA; and the United Way of America. ...

On Wednesday, the Cherokee Wellness Center launched a three day rummage sale guaranteed to satisfy the appetites of even the most die hard yard sale yahoos. Molly Hill and Connie Sorbe, for example, were drawn to the many books featured at the sale. Proceeds from the mega sale will be donated to the American Cancer Society during the Relay for Life.
