Marcus Food Bank needs donations (06/18/09)
MARCUS - Rachel Holmes received the items for the Marcus Food Bank collected last Friday only to note there are over 20 families in need of help. Contracts approved for MMC teachers (06/18/09)
MARCUS - During Monday's Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn School Board meeting, Superintendent Jan Brandhorst presented several names for having contracts approved. Wendy Monical was granted a contract as special education instructor in the amount of $30, 730; Heidi Lauters was granted a part-time contract at $10,732; Holly Jungers was also granted a part-time contract at $15, 260 (Lauters will work two days a week while Jungers has three which will provide some flexibility for them); an assistant high school football coach position will be filled by Joe Mohning at $2,251; summer school contracts were approved for Jodi Feser, Abby Mayer and Lacey Peterson with Jan Nieuwenhuis as coordinator.. ...
Cherokee School Board approves new contracts (06/18/09)
The Cherokee School Board Monday night approved several new contracts for teachers and coaches, and identified the major problem areas to be addressed in the Student Handbook for Washington High, Middle School, and Roosevelt Elementary. WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley recently announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development has awarded competitive grants totaling $61,048 to Iowa through the Community Facilities Grant Program. The City of Larrabee will receive $6,000 to help purchase and install a new emergency siren, early warning system, and other emergency equipment. Larrabee was declared a Presidential Disaster area for community assistance...
