Eileen B. Meyer, 76, of Washta, passed away Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center. Memorial services were held Monday, July 27, at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Rev. Rick Layman officiated. Burial will be in the Sunset View Cemetery at a later date. With the State Legislature each session pondering a revised recycling bill aimed at empty beverage containers, we ask, Why has the State of Iowa not put a 5-cent deposit on all those water and sports drink bottles like it did on soda and beer containers all those many years ago? Is there some sort of discrimination going on here?...
