Jail proposal for Cherokee County defeated (08/05/09)
Voters in Cherokee County went to the polls for a Special Election on Tuesday to decide the fate of a proposed new County Jail and Law Enforcement Center. Project costs were not to exceed $3,750,000 and the proposal on the ballot called for approval of General Obligation Capital Loan Notes in an amount not exceeding $3,500,000 for that purpose...
Veteran Appreciation Day Saturday (08/05/09)
This Saturday (August 8th), the 4th Annual Veteran Appreciation Day will be held at the Cherokee County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. This year's theme will be "Welcome Home Troops from all Conflicts." A fundraiser, sponsored by the Washington High School Class of 2009, is being held at the Cherokee Community Center this Sunday, August 9, from 11 a.m - 2 p.m. There will be carnival games for kids, a raffle for adults, and a meal for everyone.
