County 4-H announces 'Facilities Betterment Project' (10/15/09)
The 2009 Cherokee County Fair was the first time in many years that most 4-H members were able to exhibit their livestock projects during the entire fair. This was an exciting year for both 4-H'ers and spectators alike. Current enrollment in the 4-H program in Cherokee County is around 150 youth and growing. With unprecedented growth in the livestock project areas and fair entries, additional safe and adequate housing at the fairgrounds has become a challenge...
Technology solves problems (10/15/09)
With one city worker's resignation accepted and another on the horizon, the Marcus City Council is deciding which route to take in updating a city map which provides information on the location of water and sewer lines. Tim Galles resigned shortly after the September meeting, and the council has been told by another long time city employee that he plans on retiring. Therefore the council feels it is time to update information on new city maps...
Halloween safety tips (10/15/09)
Kids look forward to Halloween because of the dress-up and cool costumes but the mostly like it for the candy and treats. Who doesn't? Watch the candy intake when they get home, too much can lead to stomach aches and indigestion. That includes mom and dad as well!...

The Cherokee Athletic Bosters are teaming up with Burkhardt and Dawson CPAs to sponsor a tailgate meal before the Braves' home football game against Humboldt this Friday, October 16. ALTA - The Alta Cyclones jumped to a 14-0 lead at halftime and then withstood a fourth-quarter rally by Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn to pocket a 33-12 Class A District football win here Friday night.
