Oak Hill Cemetery memorial proposed (10/30/09)
A Cherokee man is working to create a memorial military tribute at the Cherokee Oak Hill Cemetery from the remaining trunk of a huge tree that had died and was in the process of being taken down. Louis Hausmann has been given the OK by the City to proceed with plans to carve the image of a military soldier in the tree to pay tribute to our military veterans...

Board gives go ahead to sell county property (10/30/09)
At their regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors gave the go-ahead to put several county-owned properties up for bid . The Board will soon contact Cherokee County Attorney Ryan Kolpin to put a list together and to advertise in the paper what properties will be for sale. Example of one such property is a three-acre section south of the formerly proposed Soy Plant near Marcus. The Board hopes to either sell the land or have it rented out...

LAURENS - The Galva-Holstein volleyball team stayed alive in post-season action here Tuesday, defeating West Bend-Mallard 3-0 in Class 1A Regional quarterfinals, winning by game scores of 25-12, 25-18, 25-16.
