'Open Bowl for Mid-Sioux' Saturday (12/09/09)

A favorite event returns for the young at heart as the holiday season is underway. Many folks like the Hometown Christmas as it has many of the traditional events associated with Christmas for many years. So come this Friday night, on Dec. 11th, beginning at 5 p.m., one will see folks roasting marshmallows on the corner of City Hall under the supervision of the local Boy Scout troop; see folks stream into the Marcus Fire Department building to enjoy their favorite dish of chili (the guys and their better halves always having multiple selections); folks will hear Christmas carols being sung (hopefully with a fire near to warm them) and many will join in the fun as the Christmas spirit takes them over; and the other favorite street activity will be taking a ride in a sleigh pulled by the most beautiful horses in a decorative sleigh.. ...

LE MARS - A Cherokee teenager received minor injuries after the car she was driving collided head-on with a semi-trailer early Saturday. Brittani Cates, 18, was treated and released from Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
