The Buffalo Ridge Band and Friends (12/31/09)
The Buffalo Ridge Band, one of the acclaimed backup bands in the area, will be featured at The Gathering Place in downtown Cherokee during the Saturday, Jan. 9 Pub Crawl at the 10th Cherokee Jazz and Blues Festival. The Buffalo Ridge Band was formed in early 2009 as the backup band for Shawn Mayer, shortly after the vocalist from May City placed third on the primetime television show, "Nashville Star." Shawn Mayer and the Buffalo Ridge Band performed 12 concerts over the summer of 2009, playing at some of the region's largest venues, such as Rosefest, and Sticks and Stones Country Bash. ...
Cherokee 'Relay For Life' raises $40,000 for ACS (12/31/09)
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life in Cherokee County in August raised more than $40,000 for the fight against cancer. Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a warm, safe Christmas. If you haven't been able to be with family for the holiday yet, I'm sure you are not alone. I know my family hasn't gotten together yet. Today I am busy making calls to postpone the beef weigh in that was originally scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 29. We will be having on the snow date of January 9th instead. That will give everyone a chance to get dug out of their local snow drift...
