Friday, July 30 marks the Second Annual Cherokee Thunder Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pull held at the Cherokee Fairgrounds. The Pull will begin at 7 p.m. with the Beef Producers and Pork Producers grilling, as well as Mill Creek Valley 4-H Club selling pop and water. The Cherokee American Legion Post 230 is notifying area residents of local sendoff ceremonies for approximately 2,800 members of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team (2BCT), Iowa Army National Guard. Archery Tournament this weekend (07/29/10)
On Saturday and Sunday, the Full Draw Archery Club's annual 3-D Archery Tournament will be taking place at the club's outdoor range, located approximately a mile-and-a-half south of Cherokee along Highway 59. The tournament is open to all archers, with sign-uo beginning shortly before 8 a.m. each day. Archers may choose to shoot either or both days. Refreshments will be available.
