Lode selected as Iowa Director of Tourism (09/29/10)
Shawna Lode, the daughter of Marlin and Sherry Lode of Cherokee and a 1992 graduate of Aurelia High School, has been selected as the new Director of the Iowa Tourism Office. Lode will replace Nancy Landess, who retired from that position in June. Lode currently serves as the Commmunications Director for the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA), a position she has held since May, 2005. ...
Cherokee Symphony readies for 2010-11 concert season (09/29/10)

Roadwork may cause delays on M-12 (09/29/10)
Cherokee County Engineer Dave Shanahan recently announced that due to a repair to a box culvert in Section Eight of Spring Township that a section of road will be torn up on M-12. One side of the road will be closed until Thursday and the other side of the road will be closed during the weekend. According to Shanahan the roadwork will be completed and open by Monday...

The Cherokee American Legion Auxiliary held their September meeting recently. They gathered all their goodies for the Schools to be delivered on Sept. 29 to all the staff at all the Cherokee Schools to show their appreciation of all their hard work. Last month they collected items to take to three of the schools for children that need supplies. They also worked on ditty bags for the homeless Veterans near the Sioux Falls Vets Hospital...
