Scam reported to Sheriff's Office (10/06/10)
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Department has received notification of a "scam" that is circulating, and wants to advise citizens to be alert to this. The scam involves a letter from "P & S Services, Inc. ; Publishers Clearing House and Promotion Co, Unclaimed Prize Division," and advises recipients that they have been "contacted by the Publisher's Clearing House to find winners who have not yet claimed their winnings and assist them through the claiming process." The letter then instructs the recipient to claim a claims agent, whose name and phone number are listed, to start the "claiming process.". ...
