Hymn Festival Nov. 7 at Bethlehem Lutheran (10/18/10)
Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee will be celebrating the church year at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 7 with a Hymn Festival. Aurelia 'Harvest Hoopla' scheduled for Oct. 30 (10/18/10)
AURELIA - The town of Aurelia will be holding its annual 'Harvest Hoopla' once again this fall, and what better time than Hallowe'en? Harvest Hoopla events will be going on all day on Saturday, October 30 in downtown Aurelia. Needy Children's Fund Auction coming up (10/18/10)
Cherokee's Stan Sitzmann has been running a fundraiser for Needy Children for 40 years now, assisted by many friends, including Mary and Tom Kellen and Naomi Kellen, who have been helping Stan for the last 21 years. They will be selling raffle tickets door-to-door in Cherokee and the surrounding communities in the coming weeks, and a raffle will be held on Saturday, Dec. 18 at the Brightside Lounge in Cherokee...

Mikey Frazier of Mongan Painting in Cherokee is pictured working on Paula's Hair Design at 112 S. Second St. in downtown Cherokee. Building owner Paula Burch recently hired Mongan Painting to repaint the window frames and trim along the building. Burch also said that she is planning several more projects to highlight her historic building...
Gravenish Century Farm celebrated (10/18/10)
The 100th year of the Gravenish family farm in Sheridan Township was celebrated on Sunday September 5, 2010. Matthew and Margaret (Mullenberg) Gravenish purchased 200 acres from the John Patrick Reynolds family in March of 1910. After Matthew's death in 1948, Margaret remained on the farm until 1954. ...

The MMC Education foundation has instituted a program, "Crops for Scholars" when farmers can donate grain to provide funds towards scholarships for MMC graduates who wish to further their education at the post-secondary level.
