Hantsbarger takes Exercise Science degree seriously (12/15/10)
The apple didn't fall far from the tree for a proud Cherokee Washington High graduate, whose son recently captured three Gold Medals in the 2010 Florida Police & Fire Games Track & Field Competition. Derek Hantsbarger, 35, a graduate of Alta High School and a noted football and track and field performer for the Cyclones, and later as a walk-on at Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb., won Florida's 35-39 age group 100 meters (11.46), 200 meters (24.3), and 400 meters (57.1). ...

Despite the nasty weather last weekend, 25 families showed up at the Historic Cherokee RR Depot for 'Breakfast With Santa.' The jolly old gentleman, however, chose not to brave the weather himself, so the event was called off. It has been re-scheduled for this Saturday, December 18, from 9 a.m. - noon, at the Historic Cherokee RR Depot. Hope to see a large turnout - and good weather...
Sanford Museum to hold annual photo contest (12/15/10)
The Cherokee Sanford Museum is now accepting entries for the 2011 "Beauty of Northwest Iowa" photo contest. This marks the fourth year of the popular contest. There is no age limit and both professional and amateur entries will be accepted. Entries must be original photos, taken by the entrant. The photos must be 8 x 10 to 8 x 12 inches in size and all photos are to be loose, no mats or frames allowed. CRMC employees donate to Toys for Tots (12/15/10)
Representatives from Cherokee Regional Medical Center present a donation check in the amount of $3,003.25 to members of the Cherokee Police Department for this year's Toys for Tots program.
