Panther boys defeat MMC, 63-42 (02/16/11)
MARCUS - The tired Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn boys, playing five games in 10 days, dropped a 63-42 game to tough Kingsley-Pierson here Friday night, after falling behind 30-19 at halftime. Area jazz bands do well at District Jazz (02/16/11)
Three Cherokee County schools participated in the District Jazz competition at the Sioux City Convention Center on February 9th, and they all did quite well. Thirty-one schools from Northwest Iowa entered the competition, which is hosted by the Northwest Iowa Bandmasters Association. The top eight schools (two schools in each of four classes) receive trophies and qualify for the April 12 State Jazz Championships in Des Moines...

It seems that the gas stations in Cherokee are currently engaged in a gas war. This type of price war benefits the whole community. Prices for a gallon of gas have dropped in Cherokee considerable in the past week. As of Monday the average price for a gallon a gas in Cherokee was $2.93 a gallon. Hy-Vee Gas was $3.09, Casey's General Store was $2.82, Kum & Go North was $2.82, Kum and Go on Main St. was $2.89, County Tire and Service $3.18, Sparky's was $2.85 and the Turbo Tunnel was $2.85...
