WHS grad has book signing Saturday at The Book Vine (04/22/11)
Mari Bauer was taking a creative writing college course when she wrote her final short story, "Small Sacrifice." Mari received an 'A' on the assignment, but her professor told her the plot was too deep for a short story - it needed to be written as a book. Bauer took the advice to heart, and in December 2009 she began re-writing her story as a book, finishing the book in May of 2010...
Cherokee All-School Art Show (04/22/11)
The 2011 Cherokee All-School K-12 Art Show was held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week at the Western Iowa Tech Community College Conference Center. The Cherokee students had their art work on display for the public to enjoy. CRMC supports Rotary Club 'Backpack Buddies Program' (04/22/11)
During the month of March, Cherokee Regional Medical Center employees donated funds totaling $4,227.11 to supplement the Cherokee Rotary Club's efforts to provide kid friendly food packets to local area students in need. Through contributions from Rotary members and local businesses such as CRMC, the Rotary Club prepares and distributes the food packets to elementary students each Friday, providing easy, nutritious alternatives for the weekend when school lunches are not available...

Cherokee Reaps Benefits of Build with Bags Program (04/22/11)
DES MOINES -- Cherokee parks are getting a makeover courtesy of Build with Bags. The plastic bag recycling program being led by Iowa grocers announces today that the Cherokee Parks and Recreation Department is one of 24 recipients of a Build with Bags grant award in 2011. The organization receives a grant of $1,946 to obtain seven trash receptacles for parks within the community...
