Fire destroys barn near Larrabee (05/12/11)
LARRABEE - The Larrabee Fire Department responded to a fire that broke-out sometime during the mid-morning hours Tuesday at a farm owned by David Wester, located three miles north and two miles west of Highway 59 at 1524 420th St. Larrabee Fire Chief Jeff Friedrichsen stated, "It looks like Wester was burning in the morning and the fire shifted to some corn stock bales and then spread to a nearby barn. When we arrived on the scene the barn was already on fire."...

Pilot Rock Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter have donated an audio CD set to the Cherokee Public Library. The set contains 24 lectures about the American Revolution presented by Professor Allen C. Guelzo from Gettysburg College. Guelzo is the author of numerous books on American intellectual history, Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War era. ...
CYSBA 'Family Fun Day' Saturday (05/12/11)
A Family Fun Day has been organized for Saturday by the Cherokee Youth Summer Ball Association (CYSBA) at the CYSBA ball fields in the Sam Doupe Complex off East Indian Street. A special "Ball Olympics" is scheduled for 1-5 p.m., including seven entertaining and fun events for all ages. Cost is $25 per family/team. For $5 per person, a Tasty Feast will be served at 5 p.m. of pulled pork sandwiches or hot dog, chips, baked beans, bars, and drink...
