CYSBA fund-raiser to improve ball fields road (05/19/11)
The Cherokee Youth Summer Ball Association (CYSBA) has organized a special fund drive to repair and extend the treacherous roadway servicing the CYSBA ball fields and Cherokee School District tennis courts off East Indian Street. CYSBA officials, who's been concerned with the roadway hazards for several years, have met with the School District and Board of Education, and the City of Cherokee, and received approval to proceed with a project that would extend the narrow south to north road accessing the ball fields to exit east onto North Roosevelt Avenue at the north end of the complex.. ...

AURELIA - At their monthly meeting Tuesday evening, Aurelia School Board members were presented with a review of the school buildings and suggestions for possible remodeling and/or renovations to address issues the District had listed. A three-man team from Invision Architects and Estes Construction, companies which have worked together on several school building projects throughout the state of Iowa, had spent the day Monday and Tuesday touring the Aurelia school buildings, drawing up floor plans for the existing structures and brainstorming ideas for remodeling or renovations which would bring the Aurelia school buildings more up-to-date and handicap accessible.. ...

The Ridge View boys and girls track and field teams have qualified 12 events between them for the Class 2A 2011 Iowa State Co-ed Track & Field Championships scheduled for today through Saturday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Paul Hyndman of Cherokee carded an ace recently on the par-3 hole #8 at the Cherokee Golf & Country Club.
