Siding the smithy (08/19/11)
The construction on the new vintage blacksmith shop at the Grand Meadow Heritage Center has proceeded quite nicely despite the recent sun-scorching weather. On this day, with the posts and beams in place, the volunteers began nailing on the side boards. When finished, the structure will be called "Ray's Smithy" in memory of Ray Todd, and feature working exhibitions on how they did those blacksmithing labors back in the good old days. Sutherland farmers to hold field day (08/19/11)

Funds set up to benefit Cherokee man (08/19/11)
A special fund has been established at two Cherokee financial institutions to help defray a Cherokee man's on-going medical expenses after he was recently stricken. The funds are established at Cherokee State Bank and the North Star Credit Union to benefit David and Jennifer Westphal and their young family after David was stricken with a brain malady called AVM. Clover Kids receive donation (08/19/11)
From June 27 to July 10, the Cherokee Taco John's restaurant ran a special promotion where they donated $1 from every sale of a "six pack and a pound" to the Cherokee County 4-H Program.
