Construction updates for West Cherry and North 11th Streets (08/26/11)
According to the City, progress continues to be made on the West Cherry Street renovation project in Cherokee. The intersections of North 6th, 7th and 8th Streets at West Cherry will open to traffic by today. As these intersections are opened, the North 9th Street intersection will close for completion of the balance of that intersection. It is anticipated that 9th Street will be closed for no more than one week...

Sunday night the Burcham hardware store at Quimby was broken into and a number of revolvers and rings and other small articles were taken. The burglars evidently followed the railroad tracks in getting away, for the next day railroad section hands found one of the stolen revolvers and a lantern near the Scurlock bridge south of town...
