Ready to go (10/17/11)
This spiffy new building recently constructed at George Hicks Field at Cherokee Washington High School will serve the District for equipment storage for track and field, and football, among other uses for track and field meets. The building was financed through shared funding from the District, Cherokee Athletic Booster Club, private donations, and a modest insurance settlement for the former building destroyed in the July 2010 tornado. ...
Pheasants Forever receives funding from Supervisors (10/17/11)
John Linquist, Regional Representative for Pheasants Forever, along with members of the Cherokee County Pheasants Forever, made a funding request from the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday. Jerry R. Jensen, 73, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Aurelia, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011 at the Lakes Regional Healthcare of Spirit Lake. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Aurelia, with the Rev. Larry G. Lemke officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Aurelia. Saturday morning (Sept.3) we headed 90 miles east to Lubbock, Texas, birthplace of Buddy Holly (and Mac Davis) and home of Texas Tech University.
