WHS to perform comedy Friday and Saturday (11/10/11)
Washington High School students will present the classic screwball comedy 'You Can't Take It With You,' by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday in the WHS Auditorium. The play, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1937 and the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1938, concerns Alice, the only relatively normal member of the eccentric Sycamore family, who has fallen in love with Tony Kirby, whose wealthy banker father and his snobbish mother strongly disapprove of the match. ...
Cherokee one of communities approved for rail project funding (11/10/11)
AMES, Iowa -- Nov. 8, 2011 -- The Iowa Transportation Commission (Commission) today approved more than $5.5 million in funding for nine rail infrastructure improvement projects under the Railroad Revolving Loan and Grant (RRLG) Program. The rail projects are expected to support the creation of 140 jobs within three years of completion, and spur development of a number of industrial areas across the state. ...

Moving Day at School (11/10/11)
On Thursday October 27 and Friday October 28th, students, staff and community members finished moving things from the old Alta High School to the brand-new Alta-Aurelia High School, which is situated adjacent to the Elementary School on South Main Street in Alta.
