Jazz and Blues fest starts today (01/13/12)
The Cherokee Jazz and Blues Festival starts today, with the Jazz Clinic at Cherokee Middle School and performances at several local venues this evening, starting at 6 p.m. with a alcohol-free gig at The Copper Cup
MLK Day is Monday (01/13/12)
Monday is the third Monday in January, a date which has been set aside throughout the nation to honor Dr. Martin Luther King and to reflect upon the message he delivered during his short lifetime. The busy Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn girls handled two tough opponents on back-to-back nights this week, defeating River Valley in Marcus 65-43 Monday night, and winning 57-42 at Akron-Westfield Tuesday night. Erica Dreckman fired in 35 points to lead the Eagles past River Valley, while Kayla Foresman added 14, and Jalyn Doeden eight.
