Sanford Museum presents 'Hollywood Cowboys' Saturday (04/11/12)

Curtis Bortell (left), Perishables Manager at the Cherokee Hy-Vee store, recently presented Bob Leach with a $250 donation from the store for the "Horses for Heroes' program. Leach makes custom saddles for the program, and sends them to the New Mexico ranch where military veterans work as ranch hands to help their transition back to civilian life. ...

RV girls win Class B at Kraai Relays (04/11/12)
In the 16th annual Russ Kraai Relays Class B competition Monday in Holstein, the River Valley girls took the team championship, outscoring runner-up Laurens-Marathon 286-242. Individually for the Wolverines, Olivia Goettsch won the 3000 Meter Run in 13:04,84 and teammate Brittany Hunwardsen finished second, in a time of 13:43.65; Goettsch also won the High Jump with her leap of 4-4; Brittny Shropshire won the 100 Meter Hurdles in a time of 16.62 and also finished second in both the 110 and 200 meter dashes with her times of 14.42 and 29.84, respectively; Alysa Georgopoulus won the 400 Meter Hurdles with her time of 1:23.34 allowing her to nip teammate Tonya Redenius, who clocked a time of 1:23.59. ...
