Exchange students enjoy their time in Cherokee (05/30/12)
The students at Cherokee Washington High School this year enjoyed meeting and getting to know three young men from foreign countries who were here to sample life in small town America. The three students were all from different European countries. Andrea Pavanello is from Padua, Italy,and he was a junior this year. Bruce and Cindy Husman were his host family, and Andrea enjoyed his time with them, as well as making a lot of friends and having new experiences...
CRMC to offer 'Cool Kids' educational program (05/30/12)
For the first time this summer, Cherokee Regional Medical Center will be offering a four session educational program entitled "CRMC Cool Kids." The program is for area children that will be entering grades 3-5 in the fall. The classes will take place on four consecutive Tuesdays beginning on June 12 with the final session being held on Tuesday, July 3. They will run from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at Cherokee Regional Medical Center in the First Floor Education Room...

Cherokee native Jackie Schmillen was recently crowned the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society 2012 Celebrity of the Year at the LLS "Man, Woman, Celebrity of the Year Campaign Grand Gala" that took place at Prairie Meadows in Altoona. The winners were in the three catagories of Man, Woman, Celebrity based on how much each individual raised for the LLS campaign. ...

Joshua Jipp recently graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. obtaining his Ph.D (doctor of Philosophy) in New Testament studies. Joshua is the son of Randy and Kay Jipp of Aurelia and grandson of Alvin and Gladys Jipp and the late Wayne and Bernadine Gaston.
