Register now for fun summer program for kids (06/18/12)
The Cherokee Parks & Rec. Department invites kids to have some fun with them for six weeks this summer, beginning Monday, June 25th. There will be a meeting for an hour or so every Monday morning from June 25th til July 30th at 9 a.m. for activities such as kite flying, chalk art, biking, canoeing, exploring/hiking, disc golf and others. If you have any other fun ideas, let us know! The fee will be $10 for the entire program or $2 per session...

County Landfill fees to jump 134-percent (06/18/12)
Expenses have been trimmed, more than 20 jobs have been eliminated including the former manager and assistant manager, the Pot-O-Gold at the end of the rainbow formerly known as the garbage pellet machine is shut down and for sale, and landfill fees in the County will increase 134-percent by July 1 of this year as the Cherokee County Solid Waste Commission labors long hours to keep the landfill financially sound enough to continue operating...
