CAEDC donates to Rotary Club Program (09/10/12)
At a recent weekly Cherokee Chamber of Commerce Coffee, George Wittgraf was honored with a certificate of appreciation for his volunteer work with the Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation. CAEDC donated $1,000 to the Cherokee Rotary Club's Back Pack Program on behalf of the Wittgraf family and the Wittgraf Law Firm. 3D movies come to Cherokee (09/10/12)
There's something new for movie lovers at the American 3 Theater in Cherokee. The Theater has recently installed a new movie screen in its Number 3 theater which will enable 3D movies to be shown right here in Cherokee. Earlier this year ,American 3 Theater Manager Linda McLaren oversaw the conversion to an all- digital system that is now in all three movie theaters at the American. The 35MM projectors are now gone, and a new age of movie experience is now here...
A Work of Art on Bow Drive (09/10/12)
When Cherokeans Junior and Dorothy Bierman saw that the Pin Oak tree at the front corner of their home at 6 Bow Drive had grown so tall that it was hanging over the house and crowding nearby Ash and Maple trees, they decide the time had come to cut the tree down to size, so to speak. Last spring R & R Tree service did the honors, cutting the tree, which had grown an estimated 70 feet tall by Junior's estimation, down to a point where it was just above the rooftop of the ranch style house...
Hankens named to Le Mars Arts Center post (09/10/12)
LE MARS - Cherokee artist Connie Hankens has accepted the position of Artist in Residence for the coming year at the Le Mars Arts Center. Hankens lives in Cherokee and will be in Le Mars on Tuesdays to teach an after-school art class called "Art with Nature" for children in grades 2-4.
