Benefit raises $4700 for injured Cherokee man (10/05/12)
David Rohwer of Cherokee was seriously injured in a fall at work on June 25, 2012, and he has been undergoing rehabilitation at a hospital in Chicago for several months. David's father, Richard, is an elder at Careage Hills nursing home in Cherokee, and the staff there organized a benefit dinner and bake sale on September 23 to raise money to help defray expenses for David and his wife Sandy, who remain in Chicago...

Supervisors OK Family Sick Leave Policy (10/05/12)
At the weekly meeting Tuesday, the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors approved a Family Sick Leave Policy for all county employees. The issue was brought to the Board by Human Resources Director Kristi Petersen, who said that the Secondary Roads employees had perviously negotiated such a policy for their Department, and she felt that there should be a policy in place for other county employees to cover their occasional need for time to care for immediate family members...

Angela and Willis Carver had the Obstetrics Department doing a double take when they delivered twin boys, Greysen and Colten, on Friday, September 21, 2012, at Cherokee Regional Medical Center. The healthy, full-term twin babies were delivered by Dr. Chris VandeLune performing a Caesarean section with Dr. Tim Rice providing assistance...
Salvation Army donates to Mid-Sioux (10/05/12)
Mary Jo Carnine, right, a Representative from Salvation Army in Cherokee, donated close to $600 worth of non-perishable items to the Mid-Sioux Food Pantry in Cherokee, represented here by Courtney Johnson, Mid-Sioux Outreach. Bainbridge completes Basic Training (10/05/12)
PV2, Austin Bainbridge, 2012 graduate of South O'Brien High School, graduated from Basic Combat Training with the 434th Field Artillery Brigade in Fort Sill, Oklahoma August 31, 2012.
