Rebels end Warriors' VB season (10/19/12)
ALTA - The Sioux Central volleyball team topped their Twin Lakes Conference rival Alta-Aurelia, 3-0 here on Wednesday, in the first round of Class 2A Regional Volleyball. Game scores were 25-17, 25-12, 25-19. Alta-Aurelia's Jenna Snyder had 10 kills for the match, while Kelsi Snyder had 14 assists; sophomore Erica Lockin had 33 digs, while Katie Turnquist had 14 and Jenna Snyder 11; Tena Heschke had the Warriors' only blocked shot and Lockin, Turnquist and both Snyder girls each had one ace serve.. ...

Supervisors accept plan for using excess funds (10/19/12)
At their weekly meeting Tuesday, the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors heard a report on Fiscal Year 2011-12 from Terry Janssen, the Iowa State University Region 6 Extension Director. Fire Department purchases new thermal camera (10/19/12)
The Cherokee Fire and Rescue Department had to replace its 15-year-old Scotts Thermal Imager camera with a new one, which cost $9250, recently. Money from this year's Fireman's Dance in April and donations were used to purchase the camera. People all over our city were shocked by the terrible news that Roy, the five-year-old son of Allen Nelson had been burned on last Tuesday, but hoped he would soon recover and be able to join his playmates in a few weeks at most. MARCUS - Oct. 23 will be the third annual fund raiser for the MMC Music Boosters. In the past, the MMC Music Boosters has had many fundraisers to help raise money for the music department.
