Walker seeks to serve Cherokee County (11/01/12)
Though Ginger Walker was born and raised on the East Coast, her heart belongs to Iowa, and more specifically, to Cherokee County. Walker was born in Pennsylvania and received her elementary and secondary education there, before moving to nearby New Jersey to earn her Bachelor's degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Princeton University. As we head into November it is time to start promoting the Friends of the Cherokee Public Library's annual book basket fundraiser. Each year the Friends take silent bids on baskets that contain a book and related items. Even after all of these years I continue to be amazed at the creativity shown in assembling them. My office is filling up with baskets waiting to be wrapped and I see some very interesting things like wine, sunblock and a gold reindeer...
