Paltz new co-owner of NW Realty (12/12/12)
Patty Smith of Northwest Realty recently announced that she is stepping down as co-owner of the real estate company. Dennis Paltz of Aurelia will be the new co-owner with Karen Peterson. Peterson and Smith have been partners since 2000, when they purchased Northwest Iowa Realty from Jack Foresman and the late Al Loebig. They changed the name to Northwest Realty, purchased the building at 228 W. Main St., and became one of the leading real estate companies in the county...

Hilda Carstens of Quimby turned 90 years old today. Recently several members of her family gathered to mark this historical occasion at the Quimby Golf Clubhouse. Hilda and her late husband Ernie have a total of 110 descendant that are made up of their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and two more on the way. The Alta-Aurelia boys had a rough weekend on the road as they dropped two tight games. On Friday at Pocahontas, the Warriors fell to the host Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy/Palmer team by one point, 51-50.
