Pancake Race won't pan out this year (01/31/13)
Devoted organizers of Cherokee's annual Great Pancake Day Race advise that this year's event will not be held due to ongoing refurbishing of the host, St. Paul United Methodist Church in Cherokee, extensively damaged by fire one year ago. The Fellowship Hall and Kitchen in the lower level where the benefit pancake meal and ceremonies were held are still in the process of being renovated after being gutted in the fire. ...

What an interesting winter we have had so far! The temperatures have been up and down and all around. But for the most part the roads have not been bad for traveling. Not that I'm complaining but where is all the snow? At the library we have been reading stories, acting out rhymes, singing songs, and making crafts that help us remember what fun we can have in the snow. We will be having more winter fun during the month of February which is just around the corner...
