Letsche Memorial Hunting Tournament

The Michael Letsche Memorial Hunting Tournament has been scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23. There will be four hunters per team and a two dog limit per team. Cost is $40 per team. Pay out is half of money collected with the other half going to Cherokee County Pheasants Forever Youth Programs in Michaels memory...

Festival of Trees at the Sanford Museum (Local News ~ 11/14/13)
The Cherokee Sanford Museum is looking forward to the very popular "Festival of Trees" display in the West Gallery of the museum, and the Museum invites all businesses and organizations to decorate a tree for the month- long exhibit. MidAmerican Energy wind projects underway (Local News ~ 11/14/13)
DES MOINES -- MidAmerican Energy Company is announcing additional details about the largest wind expansion in Iowa's history. Earlier this year, the company announced plans to develop up to 1,050 megawatts of additional wind generation in Iowa by the end of 2015. Cherokee man charged with attempted murder

The Cherokee Police Department reported that at approximately 7:35 p.m. on Tuesday they received a 911 call from a woman who stated that a man had broken into her house and was trying to kill her. Police arrived at 210 E. Maple St. and arrested Joseph William Kosiba, 34, who resides at 207 E. Elm St. in Cherokee. The female, who was not identified, fled the residence with her daughter, and a man from Storm Lake,also not identified, was assaulted with a hammer by Kosiba...
