U.S. 59 construction (Local News ~ 09/08/14)
Construction work featuring pace car traffic control on U.S. Highway 59 south of Cherokee is in full swing. In July, the Iowa DOT construction project finished phase one. IDOT has contracted Cedar Valley Corp. LLC., for this $7.8 million Portland cement concrete overlay project. Phase two of this project began recently, and includes patchwork sections on the outer lanes through the four-lane Cherokee thoroughfare. The city's inside lanes were completed earlier this summer.
